Documentary Films That Everyone Should See
There are a number of documentary films that everyone should watch, at least once. Some are entertaining, some are politically motivated, and others are informative. Regardless of a persons background or experience, these are some of the documentaries that all person need to see.
First are the political and informative documentaries. For an evaluation of the recent economic meltdown, Michael Moore’s ‘Capitalism: A Love Story’ is an insightful, although biased, look into the economic system of the United States. Less politically motivated is 2006 documentary ‘Who Killed the Electric Car,’ a story about the emergence and eventual disappearance of a 1990′s battery operated vehicle.
For more a entertaining, yet equally informative documentary, one of the must-sees is ‘Lost in La Mancha,’ a film about director Terry Gilliam’s trials and troubles in producing a movie about Don Quixote, which would star Johnny Depp. Another documentary to watch is the critically acclaimed ‘In the Realms of the Unreal.’ The 2004 documentary covers the life of hermit artist Henry Darger and his fantastical art and novel about the Vivian girls. A similar examination of outsider art is the film ‘Off the Charts,’ which take an in depth look at the song poem industry.
